Liposculpture - DrParés

Liposculpture

Liposculpture (Sculpting the body) is a surgical technique that involves extracting fat from those areas of the body where it has accumulated. It is requested by 1 man for every 30 women, the majority between 20 and 40 years old. Also called liposuction or lipoaspiration. It is not a simple technique, although it seems so, since it requires very precise knowledge of body morphology and anatomy as well as a certain artistic sensibility.

It consists of eliminating lipids or fats that, having not been metabolized, are deposited in different areas of the body producing what is known as a localized lipodystrophy. Because when these residual fat cells and insoluble in water become inflamed, the dreaded as hated cellulite is produced that, depending on the sex of the patient, will be stored in some parts of the body or others. Thus, the common thing is that in men the fat accumulates in the abdomen, the flanks (set called “belt”) and the double chin while in women it usually appears also in thighs (the popular “holsters”) and knees.

The extraction of fat is done through small incisions in the skin, through a blunt tip cannula with holes in its end and connected to a syringe with which the vacuum necessary to aspirate or suction the adipose tissue is generated.

Liposuction can be performed in virtually all parts of the body, from the face to the legs and arms, as an isolated intervention or as a complement to other surgeries, mainly cervical-facial facelift and tummy tuck.

It is usually performed with local anesthesia and mild sedation, always by an anesthesiologist, and on an outpatient basis. In general, liposculpture offers highly satisfactory results. Liposculpture is the evolution of liposuction and they differ in that: liposculpture is one of the cosmetic surgery interventions where the role of the beautician is more important before the intervention, by preparing the tissues, hydrating them and improving circulation.

Lipograft

The aspirated fat can be used in the same patient to give volume in those parts with lack of tissue. It is used to fill depressions, nasolabial fold (lateral to the mouth), deep wrinkles, senile hands.

To be effective, it is important that these are placed in areas of little movement. On the lips it has been proven that they are not useful due to their rapid resorption; however, it is very effective in the genial region (cheeks).

The micro-lipoaspiration is performed with small cannulas the size of a needle and the vacuum is made with a syringe. Due to the degree of resorption (normally ranges from 30% to 60% of the grafted volume) several sessions will be necessary until the desired volume is reached.

In the post-operative: informing about the evolution and providing emotional support. Therapeutic massage is essential at this time: it begins with gentle lymphatic drainage too, after a couple of weeks, apply manual modeling massages, with radiofrequency, vacuum therapy among others.

Lipectomy or Tummy Tuck

Many times those abdominal excess skin or flaccidity, make insecurity appear in our lives. These changes are the result of the natural processes of pregnancy or by sudden changes in weight.

The tummy tuck is best known as a surgical procedure for men and women that removes excess skin and fat from the abdominal walls. At the same time, it contracts and flattens the muscles of the abdomen giving a thinner appearance.

This procedure guarantees the total removal of skin excess. However, the size of the incision depends on the degree of excess skin, the final result of the scar and the navel depends on the healing of your skin, as the procedure is carefully performed with appropriate instruments.

The integral process of before and after lipectomy is important. Before the tummy tuck intervention, it is important that at the first consultation the doctor find out the patient’s health conditions. To do this, it will order the necessary analyzes and studies. In general, such studies aim to rule out cardiovascular, coagulation and lung difficulties.

In the case of patients suffering from obesity, they must carry out actions aimed at losing weight. For patients who have a larger abdomen, it is advisable to have lipectomy or tummy tuck surgery. Indications of breathing exercises are usually given a few days before the surgical operation.

In patients who smoke, it is usually advisable to stop smoking for 2 weeks before surgery, due to the size of the flap and the greater extent of detachment. The opposite effects that tobacco may have on the patient during the operation is that it generates an alteration in the microcirculation, there is a risk that the objectives of the surgery are not met as well as avoiding ingesting drugs with salicylates, such as aspirin, this by the space of 2 weeks before and after lipectomy.

During the postoperative period of the lipectomy, the patient should remain approx. From 1-2 days hospitalized, receiving rigorous postoperative care to monitor their evolution. At home, the patient should receive and take the recommended care. You must use a girdle for three months.

In many cases, patients begin to perform their work 2-3 weeks after the tummy tuck operation. In other cases, 3 or 4 more weeks of rest are required to recover properly. As we said, this will depend on the patient’s conditions.

The risks of abdominal lipectomy can be infections, sensitivity to anesthesia and hemorrhages. In other cases, tissue death may occur around the incisions made. It is because of these risks that precautions must be taken from the first moment of the consultation. The patient should tell the doctor how much he knows about his health and he should take the rigorous medical measures of the case. Postoperative follow-up must have the same level of demand. This must be supported by a fluid communication between the surgeon and the patient.

Lipectomy or abdomen surgery or tummy tuck surgery is a surgery applied to the areas of the abdomen, contours, and hips, to obtain a better figure and look aesthetically better. It should be noted that abdominal lipectomy strengthens the abdomen. However, this surgical procedure can always be accompanied by a liposculpture (tumescent liposuction) everything will depend on the aesthetic needs of the patient and the recommendations of the plastic surgeon.

The lipectomy procedure consists of an incision that starts from the upper area of the pubis and extends to the hips, the extent of this incision will depend on the needs of the patient.

This type of abdominal surgery does not have many complications, since organs or viscera are not intervened, blood vessels or muscles are not touched either.

Despite this, a medical consultation that is part of the preoperative is always necessary, in which the patient will tell the surgeon what they want and their expectations. Based on this, the specialist will indicate the best alternatives so that the patient feels satisfied with a realistic criterion and with a certainty of what he can achieve with lipectomy.

Buttock augmentation

Buttock augmentation is achieved with gluteal implants or with fat from the technical patient himself who is also called gluteal lipofilling, gluteal fat filling, or lipotransfer.

Buttock augmentation with fat transfer

The increase of buttocks with fat consists of extracting fat from different areas such as hips, waist, abdomen or thighs which adds the benefit of performing a liposculpture in those areas; then the fat is purified and injected into the buttocks with cannulas through minimum incisions of 2 to 4 mm, so it does not leave visible scars

Buttock augmentation with implants

It is made through a 4 to 5 cm vertical incision in the intergluteal groove, where the scar is not visible.

From this small incision the gluteal implants are introduced, which are positioned in a submuscular or intramuscular plane depending on the quality and quantity of tissue present to cover the implants without seeing or palpating, thus achieving natural results; The larger the size of the implants and the smaller the amount of tissues present, the more obvious the results will be.

The gluteal lipotransference is indicated when the patient wishes to improve their body contour through a liposculpture in addition to increasing the buttocks.

Buttock implants are indicated in patients who have sufficient volume of fat to transfer in other areas and seek a permanent result.

You should always analyze the requirements and expectations of each patient, in addition to other medical issues such as the patient’s anatomy and recovery time. We use round or oval implants according to the case.

The increase of buttocks with fat has a recovery time with lower limitations in mobilization and less discomfort compared to gluteal implants.

After a gluteal increase with fat, you progressively return to normal activities after 3 to 5 days, while after an increase with gluteal implants it takes 2 or 3 weeks to return to normal activities.

The estimated surgical time is approximately 1 to 3 hours, it depends on each patient. Frequently this type of surgery is outpatient, but if the case requires it, you must opt for 1 day of hospitalization.

In it generally uses deep sedation, technically known as neuroleptoanesthesia; It is always used in combination with local anesthesia for a comfortable recovery without pain, but this will depend on the assessment of the anesthesiologist.

what is the postoperative treatment and care measures?

  • Antibiotics
  • Bed rest only on the day of surgery; Early mobilization prevents complications.
  • When sleeping you should do it face down in 3 weeks.
  • The activities are restricted the first week according to their evolution.
  • Do not sunbathe for 3 to 4 weeks.
  • Sports can be practiced after the postoperative month.
  • Sutures are removed between 5 and 21 days.
  • We indicate the use of compression elastic garment for 6 to 8 weeks.

Read these general recommendations that apply for pre and post buttock augmentation care.

Although the results can be seen immediately after surgery, the final results stabilize after 3 months.
